Who publishes this
This calculator is published by Ground Truth Civics as a civic-education tool. It does not tell you how to vote, and it is not produced, funded, or endorsed by any political committee or candidate.

Not an official tool
It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government agency, the Okaloosa County Property Appraiser, the Okaloosa County Tax Collector, or the State of Florida.
Estimates only
Results are unofficial estimates based on 2025 tax roll data and 2025 certified tax rates. They cover the part of your bill charged on your home's value — not the flat fees and assessments that also appear on your notice. School taxes are the same in every scenario: neither phase changes them. These estimates are not a substitute for the tax notice the county mails you in August (your TRIM notice), your tax bill, or any official county document.
Millage rates and assessed values change every year. Our data may be out of date even when the site is working correctly.
Legislative scenarios
The three scenarios model the exemption changes in Amendment 3 as passed by the Florida Legislature in the June 2026 special session. Voters must still approve Amendment 3 on November 3, 2026 before these changes can take effect. The scenarios are illustrative — not predictions of voter outcome or future law.
What this site stores about you
It stores data — it has to, to email you a PDF, to keep your budget report at a link you can return to, and to show us which parts of a local budget people find hardest to follow. It does not sell that data, advertise with it, match it against voter registration records, or attach your vote answers to your name. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is kept for each thing you can do here, and how to have your records deleted.
